The Ring tempts you is the hallmark mechanic of the set, so while it's cool to get to build around it, the likelihood of this mechanic being supported in future is very slim
If I am making a Talruum Minotaur not only am I three damage up but you can't make a Jace and bounce the 3/3 as I will just remake it and kill your Jace
The combination of Tuskers value in specific decks as well as the general usefulness and card advantage of the cycling ability to obtain cards cheaply, combined with the versatility of the card to swing and block in the red zone, creates a card so powerful that it almost made the top spot on todays list, and at one point in time, it was there
I felt scry was a little wasted, both by being a little overcosted but also for not being on any reasonable agro or cheap creatures
While the payoff of dealing an astounding (for the time) 20 damage to any target isn't quite the boon it used to be with loads of lifegain floating around as well as the existence of Commander, where 20 damage is only half the player's life total, this is still a classic Gobby card from Weatherlight that deserves its place in the top 10 of this list
