If one of the target creatures you control is an illegal target as Graceful Takedown resolves (perhaps because it's no longer enchanted or is no longer on the battlefield), the remaining legal target creatures you control will still deal damage equal to their power

When an instant or sorcery spell with escape resolves (or is countered or otherwise leaves the stack), it returns to its owner's graveyard

Even if you don't want to make a for sure plan, as long as your mana base is in good shape, you should be okay to just play around with throwing in awesome cards

This is helped by the fact that the Boros mana in Historic is actually quite good
