I have tried playing with separate decks for lands and spells from which you can chose which you draw from or search with spells, I have tried the WoW trading card method of laying any card down as a proxy land and I have tried designing my own games that try to capture the fun and style of game as Magic that use different methods of gaining resources
Chaos Orb breaks the rules by literally making contact with other cards, then taking them out of the battlefield in the process
Once you inevitably start exploring formats outside of just Standard or Modern and dig through older cards, promos, bonus sheets, serialized cards, alternate treatments, and whatever stunning nonsense Wizards decided to put in Collector Boosters this time around, rarities will start looking a bit messier
People playing Pioneer, Legacy, Vintage, Frontier, Singleton People creating their MTG Cubes, usually full of foils and super powerful cards, or heavily built around certain themes
