STRETCHED (Original) carved English oak how long we pauseStretched began as an experiment while warming a piece of sculpting wax in my hands. As I stretched and folded it, the emerging forms caught my eye, so I photographed them and later used those images as the basis for this sculpture. Because the piece relies more on shape than surface detail, I chose ash wood its beautiful grain adds character that might otherwise be lost in a more intricate design.
