All that being said, Gideon Blackblade doesnt really fit in competitively
Theres always some number of powerful non-creature spells getting thrown around at Commander tables, and being able to shut those down with only two mana is like having a safety net underneath you during the mid-to-late game when its not difficult to leave that mana unspent
However, compared to staples like Exsanguinate itself, Torment of Hailfire, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or Exquisite Blood combos, this card is slower and more conditional because it requires combat setup before generating extra value, making it unlikely to see competitive play and better suited for casual or synergyfocused builds rather than opt Where to buy *This site contains affiliate links for which we may be compensated Group by Price alert
