Our eyes are guided initially by the tall tree on the left hand side and then down along the riverbank out towards the distant mill. The painting is unsigned but its clearly by a competent hand perhaps Academy trained. Note how the gap in the clouds on the right seems to give the composition balance and offset the dense trees on the left. The painting is housed in a good
