This hat has been handwoven by the San Patrignano community in Italy and is made from waste material

the ring features richly carved surfaces with gemstones that appear naturally embedded within molten gold

with sizes ranging from 10 - 30 cm in length

creating a surface that can never be exactly repeated

The combination of soft sparkle and raw surface creates a piece that feels both ancient and contemporary

In this work, working with the original expression of this threadpulling practice entitled 'Doing Undoing', two hand dyed muslin swatches consider the idea of Dana Sonnenschein 'to make something of absences', through the removal of warp threads.
